유형 1 Question

What sort of songs do you love to sing?

I don’t really care what types of songs I sing because I just like to sing whatever. Well.. if I have to choose though, I can say I enjoy singing hip-hop songs. The good thing about hip-hop music is that it’s not that difficult to sing along. You know, it’s a bit difficult to sing along with rock or pop because of the high pitch. But, when it comes to hip hop songs, all you need is the beat and good sense of rhythm. Whenever I am jogging or exercising, I often listen to hip-hop songs and try to sing along because it helps me concentrate on my workout better.

When and where do you usually find yourself singing? Give me a fuller picture of what singing looks like for you.

Music… I just sing wherever I go and whenever I am. I am not saying I sing super loudly. But, I just whisper along. I think I mostly like to sing a song when I go walking in a park. In the park, I often listen to hip-hop music and sing along while walking around. I used to go to a karaoke whenever I had spare time. But, I haven’t been to a karaoke in a long while. I’d like to avoid the crowd if possible.

How did singing become your thing? What got you interested, who helped you along, and when and where did you sing for the first time? Tell me how you started and how you've improved since.

Okay, I was never interested in singing. Singing was the only thing that I hated as a teenager. I just couldn’t understand why.

But, here’s what happened. When I was in high school, I fell in love with a band named Bon Jovi. My friend was singing along to the song and I figured that the song was catchy. So, I asked him for the name and I just fell in love with it. That song gave me goosebumps.

Ever since then, I’ve been singing Bon Jovi’s music whenever I am stressed out. I listen and sing along whenever I do my house chores, walk in the park, or exercise. Now, music is just such a big part of my life and I don’t think I can live without it.

Tell me a story from your singing life — maybe a performance, or a moment that turned out funny or surprising. What happened, and why was it so special?

A memorable experience umm…. okay. I don’t really like to go to a concert because tickets are quite expensive for me. So, I think I can talk about my experience at a singing room. As you know, I love singing. So, I used to go to a karaoke weekends. Anyway, I have to say that the most memorable experience was when I went to a singing room a few years ago. There was one friend who seemed to be a bit shy. So, I didn’t know that he was good at singing. But once he started singing Maroon 5’s song called Sugar. I was just absolutely shocked because his singing skill was so amazing that he even sounded just like Maroon 5. This experience sticks to my mind because I felt like I was in a concert.

Hi, Instructor Ava. This is Eric speaking. I am so sorry to notify you at the last moment but I actually can’t make it to the singing lesson because I think I have a fever. I hate to admit it but it definitely is a nasty flu.

So, would it be possible to postpone my lesson for two weeks? I think it will take a minimum of two weeks to fully recover. I really don’t want to spread the virus.

Also, could you give me some make-up lessons after two weeks? I think I will be missing about four lessons. I am quite free in two weeks because my OPIc test will be over by then. So, if you could tell me when you are available, I will try to fit into your schedule.
