But if I have to choose what I prepare, I would say I prepare for affordable accommodations and flight tickets. Well, during the traveling peak season, it is not easy to book hotels on the same day. So, I always keep in mind that I book hotels at least two weeks in advance. In this way, I can save some money. I guess I also look for good restaurants where locals go. I remember going to Jeju Island when I was young. I visited there with my family. It’s unforgettable because it was our first long family trip. We stayed there for four nights and five days. Because I was too young back then, my memory is up in the air. But, what I still clearly remember is the beautiful scenery. You know, I really wanted to enjoy my trip to Jeju Island with my friends because it was like a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Anyway, when I was walking around the beach park on Jeju Island, I noticed that there were people drinking in a big group while being extremely loud. By the way, this was during the peak season, so the beach was completely packed. There were strict rules about drinking in public areas. So, I asked them politely to keep it down. However, they refused and started to yell at me. I was super confused. Did I do something wrong? And, they even kept yelling at my friends and I was furious. So, I had no choice but to call the police. Anyway, it might not be a special experience for some people. However, it is memorable because it was my first time reporting to a police officer.

Oh, you know what? What a coincidence! I do have a similar story. I was supposed to travel to India last month. So, I booked a flight and hotels for the trip. All I had to do was just to depart to the airport. Well, the worst thing about it was that I actually came down with a terrible flu just two days before the departure and I ended up sick in bed at home for the entire week. So, I had no choice but to cancel my flight and hotel. I checked whether there was a cancellation fee for my flight and hotel. Fortunately, the penalty was only around 20 percent of the original price. There was no other alternative. I just paid for it. I was so regretful that I couldn’t make it there. It was the worst experience of my life.

In the past, traveling overseas was not easy for most people due to the outbreak of COVID-19.

Now that the pandemic has officially come to an end, we tend to forget how serious the situation really was.

But just as a reminder, it was actually quite intense and restrictive.

To prevent the spread of the virus, we had to minimize face-to-face contact.

Mass gatherings were strictly prohibited, and international travelers were required to show proof of vaccination, commonly referred to as the vaccine pass.

This made the entire travel process far more complicated than usual.

Now that the pandemic is over, traveling has become much simpler than it was back then.

Because of that, restoring the travel industry to what it used to be is still a work in progress.
